EQUIPMENTS
The department is fully equipped with 3 specular microscopes to identify latent corneal diseases, Anterior segment optical coherence tomography(OCT), Oculus Pentacam and Zeiss Atlas topographic systems to evaluate complex corneal disorders.

SERVICES
The cornea services of the institute boasts of an efficient team and infrastructure to deal with all kinds of emergencies.
It is supported by a well equipped Eye bank to perform all types of cornea grafting, including modern specialized Lamellar procedures like DSEK (2006), DALK (2002) etc. which were the first in Eastern India.
HCRP with RG Kar Medical college, BR Singh Railway hospital and district hospital Barasat, North 24 Parganas added a new dimension to our Eye collection since 2005. We have the strongest eye banking services of the East.
Facility for processing of Amniotic membrane and preservation in a deep fridge at -70 degree Celsius for a year is used for a variety of ocular surface disorders.
A fully equipped microbiology laboratory helps in the diagnosis and treatment of various infective corneal diseases.
Corneal Collagen cross linking C3R a technology to treat ectatic corneal disorders like keratoconus is regularly performed here.
Very recently the Boston Keratoprosthesis (2009) has been successfully done at the institute, the first of its kind in Eastern India. |
